Farewell 2014!

Happy New Year!

We kicked off our New Year's Eve just like how we did last year.  Ordered take out, took some festive photos with Xavier, let him stay up late (7:30 instead of 7, whoa!!), and then Steve and I watched a movie.  We watched Labor Day, which I highly recommend!

16 Month Update

Xavier.  Is.  Walking!
He took his first steps at the babysitter's house earlier this month.  It's so cute to watch him stand up on his own and take off.

Walking is definitely not his preferred method of getting place to place.  He's still the fastest crawler we've ever seen.  And I don't mind it, because I laugh while watching the chub on the legs jiggle!

Xavier got his hair cut for the first time!  He was starting to grow this baby-mullet thing, and you know what?  Now that it's gone, I don't miss it!
Other than at one point opening his eyes, he didn't move an inch.

Baby mullet-free!!!

His preferred method, head-first and fast.

Xavier is also picking up on everything Steve and I do.  He'll do something and Steve and I are like, "Whoa, he saw us doing that!!"  Then we panic, "When did he see that?  I don't remember him watching that!"  What else did he see us do?  He now requests a napkin to wipe his mouth and hands, places the keys on the door knob to open the back door (trying to escape!), picks up his toothbrush and brushes his teeth, and brings us his Bubbles, Bubbles book while saying "bubble, bubble, bubble...".  (That was a pivotal moment for Steve.  He heard Xavier saying bubble over and over, not realizing he was bringing the Bubble book over for him to read to him.)  He stacks blocks like a boss and counts them while stacking, "uhh, oooh, eeee, ohr".  Then he continues counting, but uses other sounds.  He could count for days.  He loves it!  I think we have ourselves a little CPA!!

It seems every day, he's added a new word or skill.  I can't even name half of the things he's picked up!  Some other favorite new words this month are:
cup - "up"
monkey - "uh-key"
ball - "bah"
all gone - "ah ga"
"uh-oh" when he drops something
more - "mehr" and he won't stop saying it til he gets what he wants
vroom - "voom"
And my favorite, "mommy".  He says it plain as day, when I greet him in the morning.  It's perfect!

It's so adorable watching him figure things out.  The other day, we were naming the animal magnets, and when I said "doggie", he looked around for Jasper.  These are the funnest months!
